Make the Most of the Good You've Got

A central core of worshiping the Gods is learning to enjoy the good they've impregnated into this world and dealt out. Complaining about the bad when you don't even enjoy the good you have is very bad manners. The universe does not reward bad manners.

The Gods are the source of good. Learn to appreciate and fully sate yourself with the good. Make the most of the good ; there are so many good things in the world, and one good thing fully enjoyed and pursued can lead to another good thing.

I have adopted a similar attitude. I am trying hard to see all the good things I have going for me and forget about the crap...

It's a struggle, to be sure! But a worthy one. Heathenism has a great slogan going for itself, particularly in this regard, as McNallen emphasizes : learning to enjoy ourselves. But then, after the euphoria of the slogan, one realizes ... oh shit ... I've got to learn how to enjoy myself! It is indeed a religious imperative, and far more difficult than one might think, strange as that seems!
